I joined CrossFit Central when Lynnsey, our daughter, was working there during her senior year in college in 2012. Of course, she has been a major positive influence on her dad and me. CrossFit, according to Lynnsey, would change our lives through movement as well as nutrition. It has, indeed.

Prior to CrossFit, I woke up every day, went to work, came home, ate supper, watched TV, went to bed.  It was a basic, wash, rinse and repeat cycle way of life.  Physically, mentally, emotionally, I thought I was just fine and aging gracefully, as they say, with a few physical ailments here and there.

Our daily lives can take on so many different challenges and having the ability to face those challenges is a blessing. CrossFit has helped my confidence grow not just through weight training but also through improving my nutrition over the years.

At age 50, cooking was boring, and I had no idea what a dead lift was.  At 60, new recipe challenges are fun and my favorite CrossFit movement is a deadlift.

I've seen changes in my overall physical and mental health and lost 20 lbs and 11 inches while having fun eating and lifting.  My cholesterol has gone from 259 to 186.  Now, those are confidence builders!

I love going to work out at the gym. Showing up at CrossFit is key for me, it starts my day off right and clears my mind, not to mention the energy boost I feel that carries me through the day.

Jack and I enjoy working out together, whether it's hiking, biking or weight training. What better way to lift weights than at our CrossFit Central coed class, "Golden Hour".  We enjoy the comradery of our classmates. Don't let the name fool you. Coach Jess makes sure we are owning up and getting the job done to improve ourselves at any age. She also takes care of each of us on an individual basis, making sure we are moving or lifting correctly.

The bottom line is Lynnsey was right. CrossFit had changed my life forever. I am stronger, healthier, happier than ever and ready to hang with the Grandson any day.  Bring it on, Lukie!
