I joined CrossFit Central my last year of law school. I was very burned out from all of the studying and definitely dealing with a lot of anxiety on top of not getting exercise. I had never really done weightlifting, olympic or otherwise, and wanted to try something new. I started looking for a gym and came across CrossFit Central’s website, which is great. I then actually mentioned CrossFit Central to a friend at law school who knew about the gym and encouraged me to try it out. So I showed up for my elements and the rest is history.

I was at the end of a three year journey to finish law school which is an exhausting endeavor at best. Trying to keep up with all of my responsibilities with school and life had me pretty drained. Particularly for me, I was lacking the ability to turn my brain off and just do something else. Physically, I was not getting regular exercise and law school also does not encourage good eating or drinking habits. I was in a space where even just getting up to being my day was taxing.

I tell people this all of the time, but the mental and emotional benefits I have received are the ones that I appreciate the most. CrossFit, as it turns out, has become an excellent way to deal with my anxiety and stressors of my job. It also has made me a happier healthier person and I am very grateful.

What keeps me coming back to Central? Easy. The people. We have a really great community that is welcoming, encouraging, and a lot of fun too. I have had a lot of help and encouragement to become a better athlete and a stronger person.
