“Rebecca has made tons of CrossFit progress this year, from her first handstand push ups, to signing up for her first competition. The smile on her face as she walks into the gym reminds us that this place is more than a gym to her and that is a contagious mentality that makes Central a better place for everyone.”
Congratulations, Rebecca. We are proud of your progress!

Two years ago, I joined CrossFit Central and it has been so impactful in my life. I had been dreaming of doing CrossFit for months. Prior to joining, I was your basic cardio girl. I had never touched a barbell, never done a pull up and couldn't tell you what half the movements we did were. I remember googling what a snatch was and L-Sit the night before class, trying to determine if I could muster up enough courage to go to class the next day. Within the first six months I experienced so much growth. My body composition totally changed. Not only that, but I found so much joy in CrossFit. Class became my favorite part of the day, I loved getting to know a whole new world of people, and loved the mental and physical challenge it came with.
It's easy to see how CrossFit has impacted my life - I am healthier and stronger both physically and mentally. I have learned how to eat (and LOVE) food that nourishes and fuels my body (shoutout to Victoria and the I AM challenge). I have come to love the people and place of CrossFit Central. I have made some incredible friends and just have a blast every time I go to the gym. I am so thankful to have found something that I both love, am challenged by, and grow from! I'm learning that being physically fit and emotionally healthy doesn't just impact me, it impacts the people around me. When I learned how to fuel my body with good food and began using weights in workouts, my body changed significantly. Yes, I was gaining muscle and feeling more energized throughout the day, but I also was growing in confidence and finding joy! Growing on the inside is just as important as growing on the outside, and thats why I love CrossFit - both can happen at once!
I am so proud of working toward and finally getting double unders, hand stand push-ups, and qualifying for BCS -> then actually doing it! One of my favorite moments at CrossFit Central was when I got my first handstand push-up. I had been working on them for WEEKS and came to open gym one day absolutely determined to get them. I told Tony, "watch this, I'm about to get my first hand stand push up," and proceeded to crash my head into the wall and fall. A few minutes later Cullen came to give me pointers, then Jeremy. It was only about two minutes after that, that I got three HSPU’s! When I did, everyone in the gym cheered. People stopped what they were doing, came over to high five me and cheered from across the room! Talk about celebration - I felt SO championed! That is just one reason I love CrossFit Central - when it's a win for you, it's a win for everyone. We are all growing together and each other's biggest fan!
CrossFit Central is the best of the best! I love that my gym is in the heart of the city, full of people from all walks of life and is where I get to do my absolute favorite thing - CrossFit! You can't get that combo many other places! It's honestly hard to put into words how impactful being at Crossfit Central has been in my life. For starters, being at THIS gym was a dream. I did my research and found that this was the best gym in the city because of its history and legacy in the crossfit world (The Thiels are legends). So when I started, I was pumped and couldn't wait to go every day, even though I was simultaneously terrified. It was easy to see how Crossfit was impacting my body. I was gaining muscle, losing body fat and learning skills I didn't even know were a thing (like Toes-to-bar, or Hand Stand Push-Ups). What I didn't expect to come from Crossfit Central was the mental clarity it brought, how much joy I would have through it and most of all, the friendships that came with being in this community. I LOVE CrossFit, fitness and doing hard things with a diverse group of athletes. CrossFit Central is a place where all of that gets to happen!
