“The combination of Evan’s love for fitness and his desire to learn has made the growth that he’s seen inevitable. He is not only consistently asking questions but also spending extra time outside of class working on his weightlifting and gymnastics skills. He has achieved a very high level of fitness while maintaining a wonderful presence in the community and being a warm personality for others to partner with and ask for help. We’re blessed to have Evan at our gym and look forward to watching him continue to impress.”

CrossFit Central has been such a security blanket for me since I joined in January of ‘24! I ran track throughout highschool and that showed me the mental and physical benefits of coach led/group training. Ever since then, I’ve always known in the back of my mind that if I want to reap the full benefits of training it will be difficult to do that showing up to a gym occasionally and lifting weights alone. I believe in the old saying of “if you want to go far, go together. If you want to go fast, go alone.” Before joining Central I toyed around with the thought of joining a CrossFit gym but cost was always prohibitive. Until I just decided to make my health a priority over other things that didn’t serve me anymore. I think when we say “no” to things in favor of other things it’s incredibly powerful. It’s planting a flag for what’s important to you so to speak. I’ve been coming to CrossFit Central consistently for about two years now and I’ve made substantial progress in the gym that I know I wouldn’t have made training alone. I feel like I have a mental edge that comes from making myself commit to doing something that sucks at the same time most days, I generally feel better, and it’s been great for my mental health because I feel that no matter what life throws at me or what might be volatile- my training is consistent and dependable

WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU ARE PROUD OF HAVING ACCOMPLISHED?

Hitting 300 club for back squat- before I started at central roughly a year ago I had not attempted a squat over 185ibs.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT CROSSFIT CENTRAL?

The Programming. It gives me the best of both strength and competitive endurance, and I have found that even when I think a workout won’t be fun on paper, it ends up challenging me in ways that I didn’t think of. Those “surprising” workouts are the icing on the cake some days!

SOMETHING IN YOUR DAILY LIFE THAT IS EASIER NOW THAT YOU HAVE CENTRAL IN YOUR LIFE.

My eating and nutrition- I know I need to be “on” for a wod at central so I’ve naturally gravitated towards more nutrient rich foods to support my training. Training at Central and my nutrition combined helps me navigate the rest of my life more enjoyably, confidently and with more energy…besides when it’s the day after heavy front squats and thrusters.
