“Cammie has been part of the Central Community for years. She constantly challenges herself, puts in the extra work, and brings such a positive energy to every class and community event. She demands excellence of herself and never shies away from coming in early, or staying after class to work on skills.”

I joined CrossFit Central a little over 3 years ago. I was moving here from Boston and one of my top priorities was to find a new CrossFit gym. CrossFit had become an integral part of my life in Boston and I knew I wanted to continue it. After a few drop ins while visiting I knew Central was the right fit & it quickly became my social network. Everyone I met was so friendly and encouraging, which is the reason I kept coming back. I’ve meet my best friends through this gym. They’ve  continued to push me in my CrossFit journey as well as other athletic endeavors and remained supportive through all aspects of life! My favorite thing about CrossFit Central is the Community. I love being around like- minded people that encourage me to be the best version of myself and push me to try new challenges and competitions.

Growing up, I was a gymnast and runner, and played soccer, field hockey and lacrosse. I was used to being around a close knit group of people with similar interests. CrossFit was a perfect blend of gymnastics, agility, running and strength training. It’s been the perfect competitive sport to keep me engaged as an adult.  I am proud to have carried that into my adult life and to have completed a 50k Spartan race with friends from the gym that took over 10 hours to complete in the woods of Texas.

CrossFit has helped me train for all aspects of my life. I work as a nurse in the operating room which can be a very stressful environment. I’m often required to move patients, lift heavy equipment and stand for long hours. CrossFit has taught me resilience, determination and how to push through when the unexpected happens. I know that no matter what comes my way I can handle it physically, mentally and emotionally because I’ve trained through brutal workouts and competitions. I have become the strongest, healthiest and happiest version of myself through fitness. CrossFit has taught me resilience, determination and how to push through when the unexpected happens. I’ve learned that I can do hard things. Starting out my day with a challenging WOD is the best way to ensure the hardest part of my day is over and I can conquer whatever else comes my way.

CrossFit has been an integral part of my life for the past 5 years since I discovered it. Not only have I made lasting friendships, but developed healthy habits that have kept me consistent even throughout tough times.
