Before the life of CrossFit for Nick sports and activity have always been a huge part of his life. But once in High School he took to swimming. He swam competitively for over 8 years and ended his career mid way through college. While stepping away from a long time focus/passion is challenging it brought on the opportunity for new experiences to take hold.
Nick first began CrossFit in February of 2013 in Minneapolis, MN. From here a life long passion for sport and exercise was rekindled. After the very first workout (heavily scalded Fran) he was hooked and wanted to learn everything about it and begin sharing his passion with others. Over the next 6 months he found himself on the campus of Texas Tech University studying for a degree in Kinesiology and got his first job as a Personal Trainer.
Over the next 3.5 years Nick completed his degree and maintained a steadily growing Personal Training business. The early days of his coaching career began in the Texas Tech Rec Center. Mainly PT and CrossFit Classes but he also took the opportunity to learn a new platform in Spin classes. After 1.5 years he made a switch to a local box called CrossFit Lubbock. For the remaining 2 years in Lubbock Nick continued to PT and teach classes with the CrossFit Lubbock community. This was an amazing place to get his first dose of what a CrossFit community can create in the success of its members in the gym and the rest of life!

Five Questions with Coach Nick
What do you love about CrossFit and being a coach?
What I love most about Crossfit is its ability to challenge anyone willing to “step in the ring” and fight for a better version of themselves. As a coach of Crossfit it never gets old watching an athlete begin achieving and surpassing their goals. Human growth is an amazing thing to watch and I love having a job where can play a role in it.
Favorite CrossFit movement and/or workout?
My favorite CrossFit movement is definitely Muscle-ups.
4 eggs+sharp cheddar cheese+hot sauce
4 slices of bacon
But you’ll catch me taking down a PB&J and protein shake most afternoons!
Favorite thing to do when you’re not coaching/working?
Hiking, slacklining, anything in or around the water… Anything active and outside feeds the soul.
Hype jam? (what song/artist/station) do you listen to to get pumped up?
EDM & Trap music mostly because of the high energy/upbeat rhythm.
