Est. 2005: Our Story

Our co-founders, Jeremy Thiel & Carey Kepler, along with their 3 brothers and sisters grew up on a squash farm in Lubbock, Texas. From a young age they learned the value of working hard, providing a quality product and impacting people’s lives through service. Both Jeremy and Carey were athletic from a young age and played high school and collegiate level sports. They chose to combine their love of fitness with their desire to change people’s lives – they set out to build a fit community in Austin, Texas.

In 2005 the brother-sister duo began running boot camps in parks all around Austin. Jeremy worked from his one bedroom apartment day in and day out blogging, emailing and programming; strong relationships sprouted out of his emphasis on the importance of being heavily involved in the Austin fitness community. Jeremy laid the foundation for his future by hiring a strong team; coupling his drive with people who were passionate about CrossFit and dedicated to the company’s vision.

In the Spring of 2006 we opened our first gym, becoming one of the first 50 CrossFit Affiliates in the world. The space was roughly 500 square feet on Burnet Road. Since 2006 we have worked relentlessly to impact people’s lives for the better. We have reached thousands of athletes across the world from our two locations in Austin, Texas: Downtown and Burnet Road.

We love what we do and we strive to deliver excellence.

But don’t take it from us, here are a few places that our community has been recognized.

Giving Back

It is important to our team to consistently give back throughout the year. There are three local charities that we partner with to raise funds throughout the year!

Flatwater Foundation

In May we hold our annual “Deadlift Off” to raise funds and awareness for the Flatwater Foundation. Each year we raise a minimum of $20,000 for this amazing organization! Flatwater is dedicated to providing those diagnosed with cancer, their families and loved ones access to mental health therapy and family support.

Kids in a New Groove

Twice a year our community comes together to support Kids In a New Groove (KING)! The KING mission is to provide Central Texas children living in foster care with a committed one-on-one mentoring relationship through free, weekly, private music instruction. Our goal is to raise enough funds each December to provide at least a year’s worth of music lessons to two children living in foster care.

Make a Vet Sweat

On Memorial Day we hold a donation-based community hero WOD. All funds raised go to Make a Vet Sweat (MAVS). Their mission is to serve Texas veterans with combat-related disabilities and their spouses by covering the cost of group fitness gym memberships for three months to promote a holistic coping alternative to help beat PTSD.
