A Look At CrossFit Central Rogue Training
CrossFit Central Rogue Training seems to have it all - it's a cross between CrossFit and Crossfit Central Boot Camp, you improve your running skills, learn to prevent injury, it's a downtown location, and it's indoors! I sat down with Coach Jessica Sharratt to find out a little more about what exactly goes on inside the CrossFit Central Rogue Program.
The CrossFit Central Rogue Program incorporates box jumps and pull ups much like the Indoor CrossFit Program. You also utilize your own body weight, dumbbells, and get a cardio vascular workout much like boot camp. The program is designed to improve your running abilities whether you're just starting to run, you're a marathon runner, or you're not a runner at all and your goal is to get fit! 1. How does CrossFit Central Rogue training help endurance athletes? Endurance athletes will get stronger and faster and mostly importantly this program helps prevent injury by strengthening and conditioning your body to be able to endure the impact of running. In this program we implement and improve all 10 general physical skills with a focus on endurance, strength, flexibility, speed, balance, and accuracy. So, if you're someone who is training for a marathon or a non-runner looking for a challenging workout this program will help you reach your goals. We actually do incorporate some running drills/sprints into our program, but not a lot, so non-runners do not need to be discouraged! Despite not having a major emphasis on actual running you will improve as a runner because you will be stronger, leaner, more balanced...overall just a better athlete. YES, absolutely! This program is open to everyone regardless of your experience or fitness level. Runners and non-runners alike will both benefit from this program. Sometimes the word "run" is intimidating to non-runners. You do not need to be a runner by any means. It simply will help runners in their sport but it will help anybody who is looking to get fit, loose weight, get ripped, whatever your goal may be. Exactly, that is what makes this program so unique! It is an Indoor Boot Camp which combines elements of the indoor CrossFit class and outdoor boot camps. There is a focus on cardio and endurance which you see a lot of in the outdoor boot camps but we also have the luxury of using more equipment that you would typically see in an indoor program like pull-up bars, box jumps, kettlebells, dumbbells, med balls, pretty much everything besides the barbell and rings. This means you get in an intense workout that is always changing and therefore always challenging your body and giving you the results you want. Yes, I actually have. Most of my clients who have been in the program feel more confident as an athlete after completing one or two months and running doesn't sound so scary anymore. I have one woman who hated running but tried one of the 5K trail running programs in addition to the CrossFit Rogue boot camp and it has been a huge success for her. It changes the way you view yourself and your capabilities. A lot of people who workout and are in shape still don't view themselves as an athlete. We think of "athletes" as famous people, Lance Armstrong or Tiger Woods, but CrossFitters ARE indeed athletes. Once you are in this program you will see yourself as an athlete, a runner, a fit individual. 6. What are some highlights of the CrossFit Rogue Boot Camp? It's a hybrid program so you get both elements of outside boot camps and indoor crossfit classes but since it is indoor we are able to use more equipment as well as play heart pumping music to create a fun environment. Oh, and did I mention there is AC and a roof for those hot or cold days, rain or shine, no excuse to miss a workout!
