I noticed an improvement with my running within 6 weeks. I believe this is due to the cross training I receive at CrossFit Boot Camp. With the amount of core training Boot Camp offers, I have become a stronger runner. Specifically, I ran my fastest Turkey Trot this past November at a 7 minute mile pace (last year I completed the same race at an 8 minute mile pace). Recently, I completed the 3M Half Marathon in 1:38 (7:30 pace) which I have not done in 9 nine years.

Spartans are Seeing Success

After only 4 weeks in the program Spartans were seeing results. There are 8 weeks left in this challenge, the intensity, their results, and their success is up to them. Who will prevail at the end of the challenge? Who will reach their goals? The best part - you can join the challenge at any time and enhance your training.

To be a modern day Spartan warrior it takes dedication, drive, and will power. It means training 4-6 days a week, zoning and logging your food intake, nutritional supplements, and a CrossFit Central coach guiding you every step of the way. Any struggle comes from within. It is up to the individual to take the training to the next level, to improve their workout performance, go for intensity, and do something instead of nothing. Success is measured at check in points where body measurements are taken and participants are put to the test in a Spartan 300 workout.

Many spartans joined this challenge to get fit, lose weight, look the best they've ever looked and feel the best they've ever felt - now their hard work is paying off! After only 4 weeks most Spartans were seeing major gains and improvements! People are dropping body fat percentage, losing inches in their waist, increasing their weight and gaingin speed at the Check In Point!

Cami, a CrossFit Central client in the Spartan challenge, has dropped over 4% body fat and lost 6 inches during the 1st four weeks!

How long have you attended CrossFit Central Training?

I started Cross Fit in May 2006 at St. Stephen's. However I had to sit out because of a running injury from July 2007 to Jan 2008. I have been back consistently since Jan.

What made you join the Spartan Challenge?

Jeremy made me join the spartan training! (HaHa) There were several people in our boot camp doing it and I knew I needed some extra motivation on the diet side. So i decided this would be good. I really only planned to stay in it for 4 wks. I was really not sure this would do anything to help. I felt like at 43 I was in pretty good shape.

What has the Spartan Challenge done for your training?

The key thing the Spartan training has done is made me focus on my nutrition. That in turn has had a huge impact on my outlook on everything. I lost 6 lbs. In the first 4 wks and 4.1 % body fat! I am struggling w a couple of injuries but having the eating piece down has allowed me to maintain this past 4 wks.

What are your goals while in Spartan Training?

I'm looking forward to the last 6-7 wks to refocus on the workout. It has been amazing for me and I cannot wait to see where I am in the end!

Don, a modern day Spartan and marathon runner, has dropped over 4% body fat in four weeks and lost over 6 inches.

How long have you attended CrossFit Central Training?

I started doing boot camps twice a week in my neighborhood (Lake Pointe) from July 2007 - October 2007, after watching my wife Julie have great success. I halted doing boot camps at the end of October due to the increase in my marathon training mileage and some latent leg/knee injuries. I began Crossfit Indoor in March 2008, twice a week, and have since bumped it to 3 times a week. I am also involved in a Summer marathon training program for the NYC Marathon in November of this year. Although I have been quite fatigued doing both, I feel I am gaining strength and my prior leg/knee issues have subsided.

What made you join the Spartan Challenge?

I watched the 2007 Crossfit Central video and just had to give it a try. I also did Elements with Michael Gregory and he really inspired me to give it a go. I'm a slightly competitive - goal oriented person and the program description, videos, and Zone/Advocare nutrition plan really got my blood pumping to try to lean out in hopes of increasing my marathon goal pace!

Have there been any struggles during the challenge so far?

Sleep! Although the past week has been good, I have really had a hard time getting consistent rest - often going for 4 or 5 days on 3.5 hours or less sleep. I attribute it to overtraining and my body adjusting to the change. Like anything good or bad, the body is very dynamic and will eventually adjust to the goodness or abuse you feed it. I think I am at a turning point and my body is giving in to the goodness I am feeding it.

What are your goals while in Spartan Training?

First, I want to lean out, dropping another 10 to 15 pounds of body fat - going from 14% body fat to 8% or less. Second, I want to finish the full Spartan 300 Workout at Elite weight level in less than 20 minutes. If I can do these two things, I am quite confident my distance running pace will be faster as a by-product of the Spartan training!
