Honestly, it was a lot of fun. Working closely with a group and seeing the progress/gains was rewarding. I enjoyed the challenge. Jeremy and Mike really kept the energy up and were fun/motivating. Thanks to you both!

Summer Camp: Keep your Young Athlete Active!
powerplant2.jpgPowerPlant Strength and Conditioning Summer Programs are designed to keep young athletes active while teaching accountability, the importance of working together in a team environment, as well as the knowledge of what it means to be a champion. With the summer months quickly approaching, what do you have planned to keep your young students active? We have the answer you've been looking for.

Healthy Lifestyle Now:powerplant12.jpg

After experiencing CrossFit Outdoor Boot Camps or CrossFit Indoor Training many people think, “I wish I would have known about this sooner!” People are reaching peak performance levels in their fitness and nutrition inside CrossFit Central. This program is changing thousands of lives – and is a great program to share with your children. Growing up in a society of instant gratification, fast food, and misleading “health” food labels, living a healthy lifestyle is something that must be taught. This includes elements of nutrition as well as proper fitness technique.

CrossFit Central endorses two youth programs, PowerPlant and WayFit. WayFit is a program intended for 8-12 yr. This program focuses on fundamental movement which teaches the kids how to move their body in proper plans of motion. This will allow them to develop life long movement patters that will apply to all sports and life. PowerPlant is intended for 7th-8th and 9th-12th grades. These programs operate in small and large groups, and consist of small specialty camps as well as on site school athletic camps. Both programs offer the best fitness training for youths and are designed to create accountability, good work ethic, and the ability to work with others in a team environment for the young athletes.

The Facts:

Studies show that more than 42% of Texas fifth-graders are overweight or at risk of being overweight. This is an astonishing statistic that has prompted the Texas legislature to track kid’s fitness almost as closely as test scores are monitored. This is due in large part to the amount of studies revealing findings that correlate the amount of physical activity to the amount of brain activity.

powerplant.2.jpg “Laboratory studies have shown that exercise causes the brain to produce greater amounts of a protein called brain-derived neurotrophic factor or BDNF, which Dr. Ratey likes to call “Miracle-Gro” for the brain. It encourages brain cells to sprout synapses, which are crucial to forming the connections the brain needs to make in order to learn. It also strengthens cells and protects them from dying out.”

More Than Fitness:

PowerPlant and WayFit Programs are structured to nourush the young athlete's desire to be physically fit and excel in their skill. The program also works to offer the young students skill sets they will use throughout their life. These summer camps are designed to hold the athletes accountable, set and obtain goals, learn to push through adversity, strive for the next level, and work with others in a team oriented environment.

Summer: Ideal Season

Summer is an ideal time for your child to join a youth fitness program. School is out on an extended break, they are lacking in their school-required physical activity, and without the structure of an 8 hour school day are more likely to be bored - sit in front of the TV and the computer for longer periods of time. PowerPlant and WayFit Summer Camps ensure kids remain healthy and active during their time off.

powerplant3.jpgPowerPlant and WayFit push the individual athlete while collectively requiring the group to work together to achieve a common goal. It is through this that like minded team mentality and a desire to excel form. Kids who experience PowerPlant and WayFit are better equipped to push through adversity, work with others, and have the knowledge of what it takes to be a champion both on and off the field.
