It was hard work, but not too hard. Progress kind of snuck up on me after 4 weeks I felt much stronger.

Prostate Cancer: Help us Fight for a Cure

Prostate Cancer Foundation

In 2007 Prostate Cancer will affect one in every six men and claim the lives of over 27,000 men. Medical research, although making great strides in recent years, has yet to yield a cure; this is due, in large part, to a lack of funding for research. This year the CrossFit Central community will help to stop this disease from claiming the lives of more men.

Putting Prostate Cancer into perspective can be difficult for many people since awareness of this disease is not widespread; however, limited awareness does not mean the disease is any less deadly. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death for men. The Prostate Cancer Foundation reports that “men are 33% more likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer than a woman is with breast cancer.”

The Prostate Cancer Foundation estimates that over 2 million men are living with prostate cancer, many of which have no idea their bodies are under attack. Although prostate cancer can be aggressive and grow rapidly, it is widely known for being a silent and slow growing disease. A seemingly healthy man can live with prostate cancer for years and show no sign of symptoms. Without a regular medical screening, detection in its early stages can be extremely difficult. When symptoms inevitably begin to arise, for some, it is often too late. However, when detected in the early stages the cure rate for prostate cancer is near 100%. (The word cure refers to the percentage of persons likely to live disease-free for a specific time period.)

This September CrossFit Central is teaming up with Athletes for a Cure for our 2nd Annual Fight Gone Bad Fundraiser. This fundraiser will help bring awareness to the community and raise money for the Prostate Cancer Foundation. Our goal is to raise $30,000, and you can help us reach it!
Click Here to log on to our Fight Gone Bad website and find out how you can help.

Join us this September; we will be fighting for a cure and for all those whose fight has gone bad.  Fight Gone Bad September 29th
