This is a great program to tone and tighten all the right spots. After 3 weeks people started commenting that they could see a difference. After 4 weeks, I could really tell a difference - - can't wait for the next session!

Strength in Numbers

5:30am BC1It's 5:15am on a Thursday morning in February. The slightly humid air cloaks the atmosphere - fitting for a Texas winter. Jeremy Thiel pulls up next to me. His car is appropriately adorned with medicine balls, run ladders, and dumbbells. Headlights approach in the distance, their beams of light bouncing from the ground and reflecting through the dewy mist. A car accelerates around the corner, screeches to a halt, is thrown into reverse, and swings into a parking space. A man emerges from the car arms straight in the air with clenched fists in a champion pose. Jeremy leans over, "That's Erik - he's really just a big kid!" I stand back and watch the campers arrive to class. Despite the early morning roll call they're energetic and talkative. It has only been a day since they last saw each other, but they have much to catch up on.

Each person in the CrossFit Outdoor program signed up for different reasons. They are from different backgrounds and lifestyles, have different responsibilities and obligations, and range in fitness capabilities, age, and gender. But, twice a week at 5:30am this all fades into the background as these individuals share their lives with one another, encourage each other, and indulge in the celebration of each other's achievements.

CrossFit is for Everyone
By: Michael Gregory
scale6.jpg This Article was inspired by the Founder of  CrossFit Coach Greg Glassman. In Order to understand this article, you first must understand Virtuosity. I recommend reading Coach Glassman’s wonderful explanation of my desire to train clients with Excellence.
http://www.crossfit.com/cf-journal/Virtuosity.pdf

CrossFit is a method of training that better prepares you for the future task at hand. Each task is relative to an individual’s day to day demands. For example a firefighter’s task may be carrying a hose up a ladder with flames above and an uncertain number of people trapped inside. A parent of two young children may be primarily concerned with playing ball with his/her kids and lifting them in and out of the car. An older man’s task may be getting out of bed without pain and having the mobility to enjoy the day. Our relative future tasks present themselves unknowingly every single day.  CrossFit training prepares every single one of us for that. Crossfit gyms are a place for individuals of all ages and professions to come together and complete a workout that is the same for each individual. Imagine that! One program that benefits the development, performance, and rehabilitation needs of any individual.

How does the program achieve this? Scalability! The workout is scaled to a level that will challenge each person at their current ability. The workout differs not by design, but by intensity. Because of this CrossFit programs are executed in large groups. There is a vital component of CrossFit Training called Elements which is an absolute must.

One Coach's Battle
jeremy_pic.jpgOver seven years ago, Jeremy Thiel, owner and CoFounder of CrossFit Central, found himself consistently falling asleep directly after meals. Though he was an athlete and very active, Jeremy was battling an intense state of lethargy. In college he was unable to stay awake in class, his legs often felt heavy, and after meals he would become extremely nauseous. The battle between his body and mind disrupted his daily tasks. Jeremy would run fitness camps in the morning, eat lunch after training, and would then fall asleep for a couple of hours. For an active, seemingly healthy person this can be devastating. The inability to stay focused in class, falling asleep uncontrollably, and not having a source to understand what could be wrong with him lead to frustration and signs of depression. Jeremy visited several doctors over the course of a few years who could not find anything wrong with him. He endured many tests and even CAT scans to no avail.

Less than a year ago, Jeremy read an article about an athlete who is allergic to wheat. Her symptoms and struggle before the food allergy diagnosis stood out to Jeremy as the same struggle he too had experienced. Jeremy eliminated all wheat and gluten from his diet and noticed immediate positive effects. He no longer fell asleep uncontrollably, his lethargy evaporated, and he did not become sick after meals. After living many years not understanding what was wrong with his body, Jeremy was diagnosed with a food allergy.
