The Coaches

We are the only experienced CrossFit facility in the Austin area! We have operated CrossFit programs for over three years. CrossFit Central trainers are stellar Level I, II, and III CrossFit Certified Coaches. They are experienced trainers who regularly attend training seminars and workshops in order to continuously improve upon this method of fitness and offer you the highest quality of training in the marketplace. There are over 22 coaches on staff at Central and lead various programs in our community.

Jeremy Thiel

JeremyThiel is a Level III CrossFit trainer, and a Level I USA Olympic Weightlifting Club Coach. Jeremy specializes in group instruction, youth coaching (ages 12-18) and adult training. His expertise include general sports conditioning, sport specific skills, and speed/agility training. Jeremy is an avid endurance enthusiast and half marathon, marathon, and triathlon competitor. Pursuing the sport of fitness is his greatest passion. This July Jeremy won 3rd place at the International CrossFit Games, held in Aromas, California. He is also available for speaking engagements.

Carey Kepler - Head Trainer

Carey Kepler is a world-class athlete. She was awarded 1st place in the Hells Half Acre southwest qualifier in May 2009. Recently Carey took the "3rd Fittest Woman in the World" title for her 3rd place overall at the 2009 International CrossFit Games - surpassing over 75 nationally ranked female athletes. Carey is a Level II CrossFit Coach, personal trainer, USAT Level 1 Triathlon Coach, Ironman competitor and co-founder of the CrossFit Central gym in Austin, TX. She is passionate about fitness and is certified in Olympic weightlifting, kettlebells and nutrition. Carey specializes in strength development and functional training, and has a BS in Kinesiology from Angelo State University. An athlete all of her life, Carey Kepler has been training in Austin, TX for 11 years, is the mother of two and was named one of Austin's 10 Top fittest people by Austin Fit Magazine.

Michael Gregory - Coed Lead Trainer

Michael is a Level II CrossFit Instructor and received his USA Olympic Weight lifting certification under renowned Coach Mike Burgener. Michael has 10 yearsof experience in strength and conditioning and high intensity training. He has an extensive ability to work with individuals of all ages in both 1 on 1 and group settings. Whether you are a high school athlete looking to attend a team based strength and conditioning program or a retiree interested in gaining mobility and youthful energy; Michael will motivate you toward your maximum abilities. Michael has a passion for sharing his fitnesss knowledge with individuals ready to commit.

Lance Cantu

Lance Cantu has been inovled competitively in sports and physical fitness all his life. He is CrossFit Level II certified and has extensive knowledge in football, basketball, and track. Lance has over seven years of experience coaching speed, agility, and strength and conditioning programs. Lance served 4 years honorably in the Marines Infantry and is ready to help you realize what you are capable of.

Zach Thiel

Zach Thiel is CrossFit Level II Certified, Kettlebell Certified, and Olympic Weightlifting Certified He coaches boot camps and is available for one on one training. Zach has competed in Powerlifting and been active in CrossFit for 2 years. He has experience in large and small group ages including all fitness levels and ages. Randal Setzler

 

Randal is the leader and organizer of the Austin Parkour scene for over 3 years. Randal hosts Parkour and free running workshops. He has received his blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsuunder Relson Gracie and has participated in submission grappling tournaments. Randal is CrossFit Level I certified and has certification in Trigger Point Performance Therapy. Some of his other interests include Acrobatic Yoga, Method Naturalle, and Free Form Dancing. Randal continues to push the limits of human potential and has helped many to excel in their pursuit of physical improvement.

Crystal McReynolds

Crystal McReynolds graduated from Texas Tech University with a BS in Kinesiology and a minor in Nutrition. She is CrossFit Level II certified and PT certified through the Cooper Institute. She has been an athlete from a young age and has an intense passion for fitness and wellness. Crystal specializes in functional and strength training for all ages. Sarah Mount

Sarah Mount is Crossfit and ACSM certified with over 10 years experience as a strength & conditioning coach, sprint coach, basketball & lacrosse coach as well as 1-on-1 personal training for optimal fitness, athletic performance, and weight loss. She has a Masters Degree in Kinesiology and is currently pursuing her Ph.D at the University of Texas. She has ample experience working with beginning exercisers, the elderly, and young athletes alike. Her coaching style favors the natural elements of the outdoors with a passion for adventure. In her free time, she enjoys mountain biking, ultimate frisbee, climbing, swimming holes & rope swings, and exploring nature with her 4-legged pals.

Chris Hartwell
Chris Hartwell has been an athlete all his life. His efforts have logged countless hours practicing Olympic, Kettlebell, and Power lifts. Jessica Sharratt - CrossFit @ RunTex, CrossFit Women's Lead Trainer

Jessica Sharratt is a CrossFit Level I, Running and Endurance and Nutrition certified Instructor and is the lead trainer for the CrossFit Women's Only classes held at RunTex. She also coaches outdoor boot camps and one on one sessions, specializing in in-home personal training. Her recent accomplishments include placing 11th at the Hell's Half Acre Southwest Regional Qualifier in May 2009, winning a spot on the CrossFit Central affiliate team at the 2009 International CrossFit Games and won 2nd place. She has been an athlete and health and fitness enthusiast all her life and is passionate about helping others to achieve a happier and healthier life. Jessica specializes in functional training and strength development for life and overall wellness and will motivate you to surpass your highest goals.

John Del Peral

John Del Peral is an experienced trainer in one on one and in group settings. He holds a degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Texas State University, and is Crossfit level 1 Certified. A former athlete, John has spent countless hours studying functional movements, nutrition, barbell training, and injury prevention and is eager to share this information with his clients. His expertise includes speed and agility/strength and conditioning for youth (age 10-18) and adult training for weight loss and mobility. John is currently an indoor coach at both the Crossfit Central facility and Crossfit @ RunTex on Lake Austin Blvd. Be prepared to be held accountable and have a high level of committment when training with John.

Megan Parsons

Megan Parsons has been involved in sports and fitness her entire life. She grew up running cross country, track, playing basketball, and lifting weights. Her passion is empowering others to embrace exercise and nutrition as a lifestyle. Megan specializes in functional and strength training. She graduated from Baylor University with a BS in Exercise Physiology/Health Promotion and received a Masters in Exercise Physiology from Texas Tech University. She is a CrossFit Level I Instructor, has a certification in CrossFit Nutrition, and is also Personal Training certified through Cooper Institute. Megan is available for one on one training and boot camps.

Andy Lewis

Andy Lewis has been active in a variety of sports fitness modalities since he was very young. He began CrossFitting 2 years ago and is a CrossFit Level I Instructor. Andy is currently an undergraduate at the University of Texas, majoring in Kinesiology with a minor in Business and is a founding member of the CrossFit Longhorns Club at the University of Texas. He is passionate about functional fitness and enjoys teaching others the importance of practical and efficient movements. Andy is incredibly motivated and consistently pushes the limits of his abilities and loves to help others find their potential and meet their fitness goals.

Alex Janss

Alex is a former competitive volleyball and basketball player and track runner. While attending the University of Texas she was on the University Of Texas Rowing Team. Alex was selected for the Boston U.S. Development camp, Won 1st and 4th at the U.S. club nationals and this past year competed at the Canadian Henley placing 2nd in the Champ 8. She graduated from the University Of Texas with a BA in Theater and Dance. Alex is a Level I CrossFit Instructor. She is very passionate about fitness and is available for small group training as well as one on one personal training.

Lisa Bender

Lisa Bender has been involved in the fitness industry for over 8 years with experience in one on one sessions, small group training, and corporate wellness programming. She has a passion for bringing CrossFit to runners and multi-sport athletes to improve performance and prevent injury. Lisa has been a competitive endurance athlete for over 15 years and a CrossFitter for 2 ½ years. Her recent athletic accomplishments include 2008 Fittest Games Chall Champion and 2009 Boston Marathon Finisher. Lisa has a BA degree in Exercise and Sport Science from UNC-Chapel Hill and was a former Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by NSCA. She holds a certification in CrossFit Endurance and Running, CrossFit Nutrition, and is CrossFit Level 1 certified.

Heather Hodges

Heather Hodges is CrossFit Level 1 and CrossFit Kids Certified. She holds a Bachelors degree in Communication and a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University. Heather played volleyball in high school and college and later coached for several years. She enjoys tennis, SCUBA diving, swimming, and skiing. Heather and her husband, Wade, have two sons who are now “CrossFit Kids”. Heather loves helping adults, teens, and kids discover that they can be tougher, stronger and faster than they ever imagined. She believes that CrossFitting as a family or couple is a phenomenal way to not only get fit together, but to build unity and teamwork.

Jen Cardella

Jen Cardella has participated in team sports since she could walk including basketball, softball, soccer, lacrosse and volleyball. Jen was a collegiate runner for Southwest Texas State and graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. She worked work overseas with the Department of State in Iraq when she was introduced into CrossFit. When Jen returned to the States in 2007 she sought CrossFit Central and never looked back. Jen is CrossFit Level I Certified and holds a certification in CrossFIt Nutritionran. She has ran in the New York and Dallas Marathons and numerous road races and triathlons in austin. Jen is available for one on one personal training and is ready to take you to the next level!

Travis Holley

Travis Holley is a CrossFit Level II Coach, has a B.S. in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Northern Colorado, and has 3 years of experience coaching a wide variety of individuals ranging from young athletes to grandparents, and everyone in between. Travis has been involved with sports and fitness all his life – playing soccer, hockey, and football since a young age and continuing on to play soccer for the University of Northern Colorado. Recently, Travis competed in the 2009 Rocky Mountain Regional CrossFit Qualifiers where he placed 13th. Travis takes great pride in helping others reach a higher level of functional fitness through hard work and determination, and while doing so, improving one’s self-worth.
