CrossFit.Com posted this morning: "Three quarters of the Earth's surface is covered in a medium where without some basic functional training survival is impossible."
What were your expectations going into the CrossFit Games?
This was only the 2nd ever CrossFit Games – so no one really knew what to expect. I knew the female competitors would be strong and that the field of athletes would be much greater than the 1st year. The format for the games was kept secret until the Wednesday before the competition so you couldn't prepare for specific workouts – with this in mind, I tried to stay focused, consistent with training, and as well-rounded as possible! I knew how my ability faired against local CrossFitters but had no way to know what the international competition would be like! My goal was to be as prepared as I possibly could and give my best performance possible.
Anything else you'd like to tell people about CrossFit, or that you'd like to say about your experience at the Games?
The event was nothing less than amazing – 300 competitors in the middle of the California countryside – RV's, tents, pull-up bars, and barbells – it was quite a scene!CrossFit has a huge online community – it was neat to be there meeting people in person who you felt like you already knew from youtube, etc! While the CrossFit Games competition was intense, there were athletes of all levels there to compete. The support and unity of CrossFit is unmatched – I strongly encourage anyone to experience it for themselves. With the growing number of affiliates, chances are that there is a CrossFit gym just around the corner.
